Not a Mac user, but just OOC, can't you install whatever windows version (XP or later) into VM Fusion, upgrade to IE8 and then create or download standalone versions of IE to the VM?

Internet Explorer 8 seems to be better than any previous version of IE. IE8 is very stable and rarely crashes or cause blue screens.

Follow-up: According to a 9/15/09 update by PeteL at Microsoft on the MSDN blog (<a href="http://blogs.msdn.com/petel/archive/2009/09/09/running-the-ie-vpc-s-on-other-vpc-hosts.aspx" rel="nofollow">http://blogs.msdn.com/petel/archive/2009/09/09/running-the-ie-vpc-s-on-other-vpc-hosts.aspx</a>), the latest VPC images simply will not run under other virtual environments: It's VPC or nothing at all.

Man, I hate to see the hard work that so many people have put into getting this to work at all, and (with your post) to work all on a Mac. I hate to have wasted a full working day before finding this out, but hey, that's why they call it the bleeding edge.

At least with IE6 and IE7, I get the "Windows Product Activation" dialog as soon as I boot the new VM under VMWare Fusion: "Since WIndows was first activated on this computer, the hardware on the computer has changed significantly"... Have you found a way to avoid this?
